Lantern Week 13 News

This week is a Pick 6 week! I know I'm betting big, but are the top dogs willing to risk it for the biscuit?! Wes just had to break our tie for pink ribbons, but I'm still ahead on blue ribbons! Speaking of, PETERM with a fancy blue ribbon, and it's their first ribbon of the season! Kambino!! You've tied Erik, you're so close, pass him pass him! Jpace7, thank you for padding the lead on him, we're all going to need it.

And another thing! I'll have you all know, there is a 3-way tie for last place. Johnnyg08, we're gaining on you!

Sports! Vegas didn't do amazing with deciding their spreads, but man they kept us on the edge of our seats. Only 4 favorites managed to cover the spread this week; one of which was the Rams, absolutely pummeling the poor Buccs, this felt personal. What happened to the Raiders, did they take the night off, were there injuries galore; meant to win by 4, and instead lost by 14! I genuinely did not expect the Jaguars to cover their spread, this team seems a bit bipolar. One week they're doing terrible, the next they're on fire. Wes, I know the Vikings is your team, and they were duking it out with their rivals, but you were certainly in the minority picking that game. At least I guess it didn't matter if it was a 2 or a 5 point bet, you still got pink... The LIONS?! Come on, that spread seemed unfair!

Anways, this week is Turkey week and my mean ole hubby had me take my precious and fleeting free time to write the news for you all. Be Thankful! Heh, see what I did there? Thankful, cause ya know, Thanksgiving. Oh whatever just go make your picks!

Lantern Week 12 News

That is a shockingly red board! My household seems to be filled with ribbons this week... Erik felt the need to point out he is the first in Lantern history to get 3 blue ribbons in a row. Jpace7, he's trying to catch you, can't you shake him?! Kambino, come on, you can pass him! Why do you guys make me suffer thusly?

Let's talk stats. The Jaguars dominated in a surprise upset, the surprise being they were terrible for weeks and the Chargers just let them take it away? The first half of the grid, the games are pretty tight, then a couple of wild blowouts, then back to it. Vegas is getting pretty good, but surely we can do better? The Dolphins barely managing to cover their spread, cost me a point, same for the Packers. I did not expect to do well for the Rams v Seahawks given that trend, but then the Ravens let me down on a 4 pointer!!

Week 12 is Thanksgiving! Don't be surprised if I miss a week, again. These programmers seem to think it is now my exclusive job to write the news, but I don't get paid for this! "Marry a nerd," they said, "It'll be fun," they said. Oh yeah, then why do I know more about football now??

Lantern Week 10 News

Ok, ok, he's still in 4th place, but y'all letting him get a blue ribbon isn't great for us. I'm catching back up to johnnyg08 because OH how the mighty have fallen! A pink ribbon, somehow labeled as "weekly wins" in the hover over text, awarded to 14 points, at least it was still double digits!

Sports! So, unfortunately, if you chose favorites this week, they didn't do amazingly well. Five favorites lost, while an additional 3 favorites won their game, but lost the spread. The games and differentials seem to be getting tighter, with our biggest swing being 21.5 this week: Seahawks v Washington. If only they could have shared their vigor with a few extra teams! The Jaguars and Chargers eking out a win just hurts (my ego), with several big bets on the Chargers.

This week's theme is: don't listen to me... Picking straight favorites would have lost you 8 games, of only 14!
